Seeing the Spirit’s Hand in Our Story
When I pause and look back over the years, I notice something I missed while in the "moment": the quiet, steady companionship of Holy Spirit. He has been there—guiding, prompting, correcting, comforting, and drawing me again and again back to the heart of the Father. Jesus promised this:
“And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, to be with you forever.” —John 14:16
Remembering the Times He Spoke Softly
Holy Spirit rarely shouts. More often, He whispers truth into my heart through Scripture, through conviction, and through others.
Looking back, I realize He was the One who nudged me to apologize, to reach out, to trust, to let go, to say yes to God when saying yes felt impossible.
“But the Advocate, Holy Spirit, will teaches me all things and reminds me of everything I have said to you.” —John 14:26
The Spirit Who Grows Us Through Every Season
Every season—joyful, painful, confusing, fruitful—has been a
classroom with Holy Spirit. Even my missteps became moments where He patiently worked repentance, humility, and obedience in my heart. Spirit never wastes a season. He uses all of it to shape me into the image of Christ.
“And we all… are being transformed into His image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” —2 Corinthians 3:18
Obedience Flowing from Love, Not Duty
True obedience is never about performance. It begins with love—a love born from seeing who God is and experiencing the depth of His mercy. As I grasp my own sin and my need for grace, Holy Spirit grows a deeper affection for the Father. From that affection comes desire—desire to listen, to follow, to obey.
“This is love for God: to obey His commands. And His commands are not burdensome.” —1 John 5:3
The Spirit’s Role in Our Ongoing Transformation
Looking back helps me look forward. Because the same Spirit who met us in our past is the One who walks with us today.
He gives wisdom for decisions, strength for trials, conviction for holiness, courage for witness, comfort in grief, and power for ministry.
“He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” —Philippians 1:6
Looking Back to Walk Forward With Confidence
When I reflect on my life with Holy Spirit, I discover this truth: I have never walked alone. The Spirit has carried me through storms, celebrated with me in victories, and matured me through each chapter of my story.
Because He has been faithful in the past, I can walk confidently into the future—knowing Holy Spirit goes with me til the end of time.
“And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age”—Matthew 28:20
