For six years, Lynn faithfully discipled me. She poured into my life through prayer, scripture, encouragement, and accountability. For the past two years, I have had the privilige of discipling jennifer in the same way. This individual discipling brought the three of us close together to study God's Word, what an experience!
The Birth of a Tricord
Recently, something beautiful happened. The three of us - Lynn, Jennifer, and I - came together to form what we now call a Tricord. We borrow that word from Ecclesiastes 4:12
`"Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves,
A cord of three strands is not quickly broken."
This imagery of three-stranded cord illustrates the strength found in uknity. Individual strands can break easily, but woven together, they become much stronger and more resilient.
In a spiritual context, this reminds us of the importance of fostering strong bonds in our surrender process. The three strands can represent God, oneself, and fellow followers. Our faith and service become much stronger when our lives are woven together with God at the center and supportive relationships with others. We are not meant to journeyh alone but in fellowship, under the guidance of the Lord.
Strength in Connection
As a Tricord, we meet to study God's Word, pray for one anotherk and worship together. The Holy Spirit gided us into this deeper connectionk and out of it God has given us a vision bigger than ourselves. We began to design a series of discussions and practice simulations to equip other women for disciple making.
Multiplication Vision
To be obedient to Jesus' command after His Resurrection - "make disciples of all nations" (Matthew 28:19-20) - we realized we could disciple one at a time, but that was not the model Jesus gave us. He chose twelve to follow Him, and within those twelve He was especially close to Peter and John.
Following His model, we extended an invitation to 15 women to join us in a nine-month journey of loearning, practicing, and growing. Together, we expect nothing less than multiplication! Imagine: if each of these 15 women forms her own Tricord two others, the math works out to 153 women becoming confident, equipped disciple makers.
Only the Beginning
This is the power of multiplication through disciple making. Lynn discipled me. I discipled Jennifer. Now as a Tricord, we disciple others - not just to follow Jesus, but to disciple others who will do the same.
And this is only the beginning...........
